Dr. Amber Thompson, DC, CACCP

Hi there! I’m Dr. Amber Thompson, the founder of Well Spine Family Chiropractic. Glad you’re here!

I am a small town Kansas girl, but grew up spending most family vacations and holiday time in Colorado snow skiing, rock climbing and hiking. So, we (my husband Scott and I) naturally made the move as soon as we were able! After attending The University of Kansas (Rock Chalk!) for undergrad, I completed my bachelors in Human Biology and attained my Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City.

People always ask, “How did you decide to become a Chiropractor?” My answer: I did not always plan to be a Chiropractor. I was pursuing a Human Biology degree to attend Pharmacy school originally. But as I worked in a pharmacy for a few years during undergrad it occurred to me that I was really just helping with sick care and I never felt passionate about that.

After reading the Omnivore’s Dilemma during undergrad, I began to have a better understanding of our body’s role in its own healing. How a healthy lifestyle filled with movement, good food, and holistic ways would nurture and heal the body when needed. (I still believe in Western medicine - there’s a time and place for it all!) But this shift drove me toward the Chiropractic profession and I’ve loved it ever since.

It was during school that I began to pursue extra training in pregnancy and pediatrics through the ICPA, the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association. They are the leader in perinatal and pediatric training in the Chiro world and I was lucky enough to be able to take the entire course throughout my last two years in Chiropractic college. I’ve held my CACCP certificate and Webster training from the Academy Council of Chiropractic Pediatrics and Academy of Chiropractic Family Practice since 2013.

When I’m not seeing patients I spend my days as a mama to Miles (5 yoa), Ada (1 yoa) and our pup, Albus and wife to Scott. We love to travel and spend time in the mountains. I love coffee, historical fiction novels, abstract painting (the work and viewing), and remodeling our home on my days off!

(In 2013, Dr. Thompson purchased Decker Family Chiropractic of the South Boulder Chiropractic family from Dr. Elizabeth Decker, DC, CACCP.)
